The Egyptians Used Medicinal Plants

We know that the Egyptians used medicinal plants for protection from a variety of diseases. We have discovered two famous Egyptian documents that relate how Egyptians used plants for their medicinal properties:

• Hearst papyrus
• Ebers papyrus

These documents were written about 1500 B.C. Medicinal uses of plants that they mention include:

• barley
• figs
• garlic
• olives
• onions
• pomegranates
